Katana is an integrated VPN, firewall, and IDS solution for stand-alone machines. The firewall will control inbound and outbound network access, the IDS/IPS will control the application network access, and the VPN will enable the user to connect to third party VPN gateways. Multiple VPN tunnels can be activated simultaneously and asymmetric filtering can be applied to VPN tunnel traffic.
When the VPN is not connected, Katana will automatically detect new subnets that the user connects to and promt for a security policy. The default policy is to not trust the subnets and thereby preventing hostile machines from connecting to and exploiting your machine.
Those who need a VPN gateway/firewall for their home or office network can install Katana on a PC with two NICs.
