Large enterprises have used automated backup solutions based on tape libraries or the more modern "D2D backup" for years. With Arctor also small and medium sized companies can set up a reliable backup solution with fast restore capabilities at a fraction of the costs.

Because D2D backup up to now was targeted at enterprise level computing the available solutions cost $20,000 and more. The Arctor solution requires a standard PC with one or more large disk drives (or a RAID system of any type).

Appropriate hardware can be purchased new for as low as $700 (e.g. a machine with 120 GB drive and DVD writer). Since Arctor’s hardware requirements are low, even an outdated PC equipped with a large enough disk drive is sufficient as well. Add $40 to $549 for our software and you have a network attached backup system for a workgroup or a small business.
